Dress Up Your Marshmallow Treats

3 Fantastic recipe spins for a classic treat

Marshmallow crispy treats are a staple from our childhood. What could be simpler to make or more comforting to enjoy? But even a classic can stand to mix things up once in a while! Here are some fun variations on the standard marshmallow crispy treat.

Peanut butter Crisp Rice Treats

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 10 ounces marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 5 cups crisp rice cereal
  • 1 cup broken pretzel pieces
  • 1 cup Reese’s Pieces

Chocolate Crisp Rice Treats

In a small bowl in the microwave, melt butter and

marshmallows. Stir in peanut butter. In a large bowl, combine cereal, pretzel pieces and Reese’s Pieces. Add butter mixture to cereal mix and stir until completely coated. Press into a greased baking pan and refrigerate until set.

  • 6 cups crispy rice cereal
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cups miniature marshmallows
  • 2 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon chocolate flavoring

Melt butter, marshmallows and cocoa powder in microwave. Stir in chocolate flavoring and pour over cereal. Mix until cereal is well coated and then drop into cupcake liners in muffin tins and refrigerate until set.

Toffee Crisp Rice Eggs

  • 4 tablespoons Butter
  • 10 ounce bag Marshmallows
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 ½ cups toffee bits

6 cups crispy rice cerealMelt butter in a pan over medium heat and add the marshmallows and chocolate chips, stirring until melted.  In a large bowl combine rice cereal and toffee bits. Pour the marshmallow mixture over top and stir well until the cereal is coated. When it has cooled enough to handle, form the mixture into Easter Egg shapes and place them on a greased cookie tray in the fridge to set.

    These are such great receipes to make with children of any age. I love the varity and different things you can do with marshmellows.. Hey try adding dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate. It offsets the sweetness and the bitterness of the chocolate for a very nice tasting combination..

    I like the idea of the peanut butter crisp rice treats witht he pretzels and M&M’s. Adds alot more flavor to the regular somewhat bland treats. I don’t like the look of the toffeeeggs, look like maggots to me. Sorry.

    i like the krispie eggs but they would look more festive different colors – just add food color to marshmellow mixture. :)
