Do You Spring Clean?

Might as well have fun with it

spring cleaning tipsSpring months in the Bennett house are “crazy-busy” with birthday, holidays, travel and work deadlines. Which is why I’ve never hopped aboard the “Spring Cleaning Train”. Now don’t get me wrong, that doesn’t mean my house is a wreck, I just try to do my castle- swamping (that’s what I call it) before the winter holidays and divide other big projects as needed through out the year.

However, being a blogger and web editor means I need to stay on top of trends and this is the time of year I’m supposed to impart my Spring cleaning wisdom (of which I have none) on all of you.  This year I decided to approach it from  different angle. I “googled” why we spring clean, green cleaning tips, and created a Spring Cleaning Pinterest Board to make it a little more entertaining. That way you can procrastinate your cleaning and play around on Pinterest (wink and a smile).

But I need to comment on the image I chose for this post….
why is she so darn happy?

After spending a ridiculous amount of time on a stock photo site I came up with the solution… Photographers hire housekeepers and have no clue what it is like to clean a house inhabited by humans and pets because all of their models are

  • wearing make-up and have perfect hair
  • dressed meticulously
  • have coordinated cleaning supplies
  • are apparently re-cleaning already clean rooms

I don’t know about you but I clean in my yoga pants,  sans make-up and hair-do!

Now on to my fun Spring cleaning Trivia and Tips:

Wonder where the tradition of spring cleaning comes from? Find the answers here…

Yes, it gets rid of all the smells and build up from having the house closed all winter. No I don’t smoke but after several months there is build up in the house (and car-take a good look at the windshield on a sunny morning). Think about the germ brought in the house etc.
