Funny Face Food Art

A cheery face makes a school lunch fun!

Whether you pack your kid’s school lunch, or they do it themselves, keeping a few craft supplies in the kitchen cupboard will make lunchtime fun.
Save this fun idea for the younger crowd or you may mortify your child when they pull out their happy orange in the cafeteria.

Wrap a sandwich, fruit or vegetable in plastic wrap (aluminum foils works too) and then add stickers or other items with Glue Dots. I’ve made faces in this photo  using wiggle eyes, pom-poms and craft foam. You can also make animals, cute monsters or simply add stickers just for fun.

Craft Supply Suggestions:

  • wiggle eyes
  • pom-poms
  • stickers
  • craft foam
  • craft feathers
  • yarn
  • foam letters
  • Glue Dots

Ganz Parent Club Tips:
The glue dots and stickers work better when the food is room temperature due to condensation.

Is your child old enough to babysit? Show them this food craft idea to make with the kids, and they’ll soon be the most requested babysitter in the neighborhood!

I work in a centre with children under 5 years old, children love when they get a surprise in their lunch. For example, instead of the tradition apple wedges, slice in rings and remove the core in the middle. An I love you heart on their paper lunch bag. An I’m
thinking of you note in their lunch box. Be creative. Kids are not the only ones, husbands like surprises in their lunches too.

My daughter is almost 10 and she still loves to get surprises in her lunch. She loves to find a special piece of candy (like a life saver) or a note from Mom. But using stickers/embellishments to dress up snacks is such a clever and unexpected idea – gotta try it!

My little one is five, and I have been putting notes and stickers in his lunch throughout preschool and now Kindergarten. This is a new twist on the stickers, and I love it!
